Nikolas Type, Digital

In anticipation of the late-2019 launch of Nikolas Type, the Cologne-based type foundry needed a partner that could translate its bold and expressive aesthetics into a desktop-focused ecommerce platform that is welcoming and easy-to-use. I designed and built the new .com to flaunt the foundry’s current offerings while future-proofing its core functionalities and visuals to accommodate for any fresh releases. (www.nikolastype.com)

Since the foundry specializes in display typefaces, the base font is treated in a minimal, almost recessive manner, allowing the striking sensibilities of each NT font take the center stage.

Extra attention was devoted towards the site’s buy flow—visitors can access the buy button for typefaces wherever they scroll on the page and subsequently, go through the entire checkout process without ever leaving the Nikolas Type website.

Collaborating closely with the founder, we produced type specimen images and in-studio apparel shots that complement the tone and style of the site itself.
